about

This is a song about not being able to leave the house.

lyrics

Shrouded window
I hope that one day you break
and the sun will come back to my home.

But even the light
at your seams seems so empty
and not like any sunlight I have felt before.

I hope that my skin's not too used
to the dark.
I've gotten used to the dark.

The light from the TV,
shrouded window, you let
cradle me into my night.

Though the remotes just
a few feet from my hands, I can't
find a way to turn it off tonight.

I know none of this can
be sustained.
Is there another way to pass the day?

No I'm no coward and
all hands callous to hurt
have guided themselves through the pain.

But, shrouded window,
I'd hoped that you'd break without
my callous hands mangled in your frame.

I hope I just need to step outside.
God it feels so good to be outside.

With no end in sight
I should ask, shrouded window,
what is the plan if you're going to stay?

We can pretend
by the light of the TV that there's
just not enough time in the day.

That would be enough for
my concerns
and leave a little time for things to turn.

Shrouded window,
I hope that one day you break.
Though you've been so much of my life,

the comfort from keeping you 'round
is enough to prevent
any real living of my life.

So I know none of this can
be sustained.
Is there another way to numb the pain?
